Wild World: A Confluence of Art, Geography, and Nature June 2021. My first major talk about Wild World, for Stanford University's David Rumsey Map Center. We take a world tour of the half-completed map, exploring how it's made and what it's all about. With hundreds of wild animals, and Earth's geography painstakingly hand-illustrated, this is a broad sample of the breadth and scope of the map. Exploring the Map: The Mississippi River October 2020. Join me on a paddle down the great Mississippi River, which flows through the heart of the continent. From the Northwoods of Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico, we discuss many features I've drawn along the way. We explore more than just the banks of the river. The tour jumps over to adjacent places such as Chicago, the Ozarks, and Acadiana. I also dusted off the guitar and harmonica, composing some music that I hope fits the feel of this expedition.
